Nick Dudman - Director

Nick is one of the three Directors of the firm and qualified as a solicitor in 1985. A graduate of the University of Exeter he returned to Exeter in 1988 following three years working in his native Bristol. Since 1988 Nick has practiced exclusively in the field of Family Law with particular expertise in Divorce and Matrimonial Finance. Nick was a partner in a large respected Exeter firm before setting up his own firm in 1996, which he then subsequently merged with Rundlewalker. Since 1998 Nick has been a member of the Law Society’s Family Law Panel, which recognizes his expertise in his chosen field.
Nick is married with three young children and lists amongst his many interests boating, shooting, collecting antique toys and following his son’s tennis career, as well as spending what little time remains with his family when not doing any of the above.
Neil Starr - Director & Practice Manager

Neil is one of the Directors of the firm qualifiying as a solicitor in 2000. Neil began his career at Rundlewalker, however in 2004 he joined a large commercial firm to specialise in Commercial Property. Neil has now re-joined Rundlewalker to be the Practice Manager and also head up the Property Department.
Neil specialises in Commercial Property and has a wealth of experience in dealing with property matters for insolvency practitioners, major house builders and also acting for local authority clients. Neil also acts for individuals and SME’s in selling or purchasing retail premises, office space and licensed premises.
Neil also has the benefit of excellent corporate law foundations as part of his commercial property experience, primarily arising from the corporate structures created to have ownership and/or management of transaction properties.
In his spare time Neil enjoys playing five-a-side football and golf. Neil also enjoys distance running and each year takes part in the Great West Run.
Susan Marsh - Barrister & Director

Susan is a Barrister who was called to the Bar in 1998 and since then has specialised primarily in litigation work.
As a Barrister working in a firm of solicitors, Susan has a unique perspective on all litigation subjects. This includes business disputes, debt recovery, employment issues, landlord and tenant work, personal injury and professional negligence to name a few!
Susan’s upfront and empathy filled approach with her advice and representation is one that ensures her clients’ optimum outcomes are achieved and that the unavoidable risks that are involved with litigation are best balanced with her client’s needs and aspirations.
Susan lives locally with her husband and daughter. In her spare time Susan enjoys gardening, socialising with friends and spending time with her daughter.
Susan Jury - Solicitor

Sue joined Rundlewalker as an associate solicitor in October 2002, having for the previous 15 years worked in a large firm in Plymouth. Sue qualified as a solicitor in 1990 and has since specialised in family law, covering the whole spectrum of family work ranging from high level finance cases, domestic violence to international child abduction cases.
Sue very much enjoys working in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of Rundlewalker and to being nearer to her home and children’s school. In more recent years Sue has specialised largely in all areas involving children, mostly representing parents and grandparents in care cases and in difficult contact and residence cases.
She is an accredited member of the SRA Children Law Scheme and a Resolution Accredited Specialist in private law children matters and advocacy. When not running around after her 3 young children she enjoys running, walking and yoga.
Julia Brassington - Solicitor Advocate

Julia graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Philosophy degree before deciding to enter the legal profession. She spent two years at Law School in London and then completed her solicitor’s training in Kent where she chose to specialize in criminal defence work.
In 2005 she was admitted as a solicitor and moved to the East Midlands. In 2011, Julia and her family relocated to Devon in order to be closer to family. Julia has had conduct all types of criminal cases from minor road traffic to serious sexual offences and murder and can deal with all cases from the initial arrest at the police station right through to a conclusion.
Julia was awarded Higher Rights of Audience in 2009, this means that she has the added advantage of being able to represent you as your advocate, not only at the Magistrates’ Court, but also at the Crown Court should your case end up in the Higher Court. Julia also has a particular interest in Youth Court work and has a vast amount of experience dealing with clients in care.
In her own time Julia likes to spend time with her young family either walking on the moors or at the seaside. On the rare occasion that she gets time to herself she can be found relaxing with a glass of wine and a good book.
Sam Reid - Solicitor

Sam was brought up in Hong Kong before studying for a degree in Economics and Geography at Exeter University. He then moved to China to study Mandarin before working for a global legal publisher in Hong Kong, during which time he developed an interest in becoming a solicitor.
He obtained his law degree from Guildford College of Law before returning to Exeter in 2009 where he trained in a large local firm, qualifying as a solicitor in 2011.
Sam has since spent several years specialising in all aspects of residential and agricultural conveyancing. He is also experienced in advising in commercial property transactions and can be contacted to assist with the preparation of Wills, extracting Grants of Probate and estate administration.
Sam is married with a young son and lives locally. In his free time, Sam can usually be found on the beaches of North Devon or West Cornwall where he tries to surf.
Lisa McArthur - Solicitor

Lisa was brought up in Northern Ireland and has worked in the legal profession since leaving school. Since qualifying as a Solicitor in 2000, she has specialised in personal injury law and civil litigation as well as the criminal law.
She has considerable experience of varied and high value claims, including road traffic accidents, accidents at work and public liability cases as well as industrial disease claims.
Lisa also advises clients regularly in the police station and attends the Magistrates Court to represent clients in a range of hearings from plea and sentence to application hearings.
In her spare time, Lisa cycles, plays netball and is a keen runner. She is married with two daughters and enjoys spending time with her family, which usually involves shopping!
Galina Labworth - Solicitor

Galina has specialised in criminal law since she qualified as a Solicitor in 1997. She worked in a busy East London practice, where she supervised a team of solicitors, until moving to Devon in 2006. Prior to qualification, she worked at the Court of Appeal, Criminal Division. She has considerable experience of varied and high-level cases. She has dealt with very serious matters including Murder, Rape and large Drug Conspiracies, together with other more general criminal cases.
She has been advising clients in the police station for over 20 years and attends the Magistrates Court on a regular basis to represent clients in a range of hearings from plea and sentence to conducting trials. She is a Duty Solicitor on both the Court and Police Station schemes. She has particular expertise in working with vulnerable people and has a reputation for going the extra mile for her clients and has consistently been rated in the top three "Best Criminal Defence Solicitors" in Exeter, see the full story here.
In her spare time, Galina has an interest in amateur dramatics, making mosaics and most of all, enjoying family time with her three children - which ideally involves a stroll on the Moors ending with a large glass of wine by the fire in a local pub.
Kathy Hayes - Accounts Manager

Before setting up her own business Kathy spent 28 years in the Banking Sector. During this time she undertook all aspects of banking and she later headed up a team dealing with Resource Management.
She qualified as an Accounting Technician in 2000 and set up her own accounting and payroll service. Since that time she has built up a varied client base assisting many local businesses.
She was approached by Rundlewalker in 2001 to join their offices on a self-employed basis to manage their finance department.
Kathy is married with a daughter who has recently graduated from Coventry University. Kathy enjoys house renovation, interior design and spending time with her family.
Hannah Somers - Paralegal

Hannah is an experienced Legal Assistant who supports Nick Dudman and Susan Jury in the Family Department. In addition Hannah has vast experience in dealing with Personal Injury claims having previously worked in the Personal Injury Department. Hannah has been employed previously by two major Insurance companies concentrating on Defendant work.
In her spare time Hannah enjoys spending time with her young daughter and is a keen fitness fanatic who enjoys keeping fit by attending her local gym and participating in spinning classes.
Lindsay Fowler - Legal Secretary

Lindsay is an experienced Legal Secretary who supports the Fee Earners in both the Personal Injury and Litigation Teams. She previously worked for a large firm of Solicitors and has experience of many types of law including Probate, Wills and Trust administration.
In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys horse riding and spending time outdoors.
Gemma Lawson - Paralegal

Gemma is a Paralegal in our Conveyancing Department running her own case load.
Gemma started as a Legal Secretary over nine years ago and through distance learning at the University of the West of England qualified as a Paralegal in 2009.
Gemma lives locally with her husband and in her spare time enjoys spending quality time with family and friends as well as long walks with her young Border Collie.
Louise Webber - Paralegal

Louise is a Paralegal in our Conveyancing Department. Louise has been working in residential property for 14 years and gained her Paralegal Qualification through Ilex.
Louise has worked on a variety of conveyancing transactions over the years and prides herself on being approachable and reassuring when guiding clients through what is sometimes thought of as an extremely stressful time in buying or selling property.
In her spare time Louise likes to spend time outdoors with her husband and two young children. Louise also likes to let off steam twice a week at her local boot camp!
Joe Clark-Farley - Paralegal

Joe joined the firm in 2014 as an Apprentice. Joe was an outstanding candidate who demonstrated the keenness, intelligence and adaptability that we were looking for. Joe decided that university was not for him and wanted to do things a different way by getting on to a professional scheme to pursue a career in law.
In July 2016, Joe was promoted to a Paralegal position within the Conveyancing Department and is now running his own case load.
Joe still continues his learning through the Training Apprenticeship Scheme in providing Legal Services and hopes to qualify as a Legal Executive, which has always been his ambition.
Georgina Case - Trainee

Georgina attended South Dartmoor Academy, achieving A-levels in Sociology, Psychology and Maths. She decided University wasn’t the ideal route to take to start her career in Law so decided to take the professional scheme at Rundlewalker.
Georgina provides support to the Conveyancing Department and her duties include drafting contracts and transfers, conducting Stamp Duty returns, issuing registrations and searches as well as general work around the office. Georgina can be contacted for updates on matters and to take messages for the department. She has also been working in the Criminal department to assist when needed and has attended Court on many occasions.
Katie Jeffery - Trainee

Katie joined Rundlewalker in 2017 as an apprentice. She is currently undertaking the Level 2 Diploma in Legal Administration. Katie covers the reception, alongside this she supports Susan Marsh in the Personal Injury and Civil Litigation Department. Katie hopes to progress onto the Paralegal Apprenticeship.
In her free time Katie enjoys dancing, which she has been doing since the age of three. Katie also enjoys spending time with her friends and family and taking her dog on long walks.
Denise Allen - Administration

Denise has worked at Rundlewalker for 12 years and provides valuable administration support and clerical cover. Previously Denise was an auxiliary nurse and mental health practitioner. In her spare time she enjoys swimming, reading and dining out and spending quality time with her family.
