Exeter firm retains Lexcel Quality Mark once again.
Exeter law firm Rundlewalker has successfully retained the coveted Law Society’s Lexcel Accreditation, a much sought after award it has now held for the past eight years. The Lexcel accreditation is widely accepted by the legal profession to be the 'gold-star' legal quality mark and is designed to give clients reassurance that a legal practice has the processes in place to meet their needs.
What is Lexcel?
The Law Society of England and Wales' Lexcel quality mark is designed for legal practices that want to implement an effective practice management system. First launched in 1998, Lexcel accreditation is a sign of quality, showcasing a firm's commitment to sound practice management, giving reassurance to current and future clients that this is a firm built on trust and integrity.
Lexcel involves a rigorous application and assessment process scrutinising not just a legal practice’s professional expertise but also the quality of its systems, information and communications technology (ICT) defences, file management, structure and strategy, client care and treatment of staff. It includes indepth background checks and an onsite visit from an independent Lexcel assessor.
This years' assessment was further complicated by the prolonged implications of COVID, with the firm having no alternative other than to be fleet-footed and innovative, and to fully embrace the reality of remote working, with much of their caseloads now being managed using secure digital, electronic and conference-based technology.
With staff members working from home, it has never been more important for clients to be able to rely upon the trusted risk framework familiar to a Lexcel Accredited legal practice. Clearly documented policies, processes and procedures help to protect the firm, its employees, and its clients. Lexcel accreditation demonstrates a firm’s commitment to excellence, and accredited law firms are rightfully proud to display the Lexcel logo. As well as retaining the accreditation, the firms assessor also commented on how well we, as a practice, had adapted to the COVID situation.
Rundlewalker CEO Nick Dudman said he was extremely proud of his team’s achievement:
‘It’s a reassurance to our clients that they are getting the very best professional advice, he said. ‘And it’s also an important indicator to our staff and indeed future staff, that we are working to the highest standards.
‘Rundlewalker is one of the smallest practices in Exeter and that’s quite deliberate. We pride ourselves on being approachable and transparent, giving our clients clarity and peace of mind as well as delivering high quality work.’ Retaining this award is testament to the unwavering commitment of our team across the board; thanks to each and every one of them.'
Only a handful of all legal practices have a Lexcel accreditation. Retaining this award, Rundlewalker, based on Exeter Quay, is one of the few legal practices in England and Wales who can boast this accreditation.
Practice Manager Hannah Somers said anyone wondering how to choose a solicitor, should always look for this quality mark:
‘Clients now have a broad and varied choice of practices in the legal services marketplace, so this award helps us to stand out in our commitment to client care and best practice,’
‘Delivering good client care and maintaining a strong client relationship are essential for solicitors and those gaining and maintaining Lexcel show their dedication to go above and beyond. Committing to high standards in customer service and practice management is fundamentally important in today’s ever more competitive legal services market.
‘By undergoing an independently assessed Lexcel accreditation, firms can demonstrate their commitment and consistent determination to exceed client expectations, improve overall satisfaction and assist regulatory compliance.
The quality mark is an objective and external assurance for clients and potential clients alike.’
During the most recent assessment, feedback from staff included the following extract:
“…all interviewees confirmed the firm’s management has performed remarkably well during the pandemic. They often mention what a great place to work it is, with good opportunities for training, plus supportive management, and strong leadership. Examples include the speed with which arrangements were made to support effective homeworking, and more recently, to formalise arrangements for continuing a split of home/office working for all staff going forward. New staff were impressed with the induction arrangements, and all are pleased to have joined the team at Rundlewalker…”
